Sogn og Fjordane

"The fjord at the glacier’s feet". Sogn og Fjordane cannot be visited in one or two days. If you wish to discover the diversity and peculiarity of this region you should take your time. You will not regret it!

The Sognefjord is the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. The fjord extends 275 km inland, is up to 1300 m deep and has an average width of 5 km. The fjord is nestling between the Nordfjord and the Jostedalsbreen to the north and the municipality of Aurland to the south. The Jostedalsbreen is the biggest glacier in continental Europe with an area of 487 km²). This is the ideal region if your are looking for relaxation and quietness. Here you can still discover unspoiled nature at its finest: high mountains, deep valleys, big and small islands as well as cliff-lined coasts are characteristic of this region. The numerous municipalities are connected through bridges, tunnels (most of them are free) or regular ferry lines. Balestrand, Førde, Sogndal or Florø and Måløy are the right towns to enjoy the Norwegian atmosphere in the cosy restaurants, wooden houses and museums.

Moreover, nature lovers and fishermen will get their money worth. On the one hand, the Sognefjord is very rich in fish and on the other you can enjoy relaxing boat trips. Further, it is not seldom to encounter whales and porpoises, and incredible wonder! Should you decide to go hiking remember to pay attention to the delicious blue and cloudberries.

Another interesting place to visit are the Huldefossen waterfalls which drop 90 m.
